Artist Statement

I am drawn to pottery by a fascination with the transformation that clay and glaze make when they are exposed to extreme heat in a kiln.  I love the process of forming clay on the potter’s wheel and get great satisfaction from creating functional and decorative objects that can be incorporated into people’s everyday lives. When I am in the studio I feel at peace, and it is in this state that I feel most inspired. There are many variables in this process which makes each piece unique, often yielding beautiful and unexpected results.  To me, it is the unexpected outcomes that keep the process fresh and interesting.
